United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley (UWMBMV) knew it was time to address the ongoing problems with their on- premise Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server. Outages, unreliability and significant on-going IT Support costs grew to unacceptable levels. Senior Vice President, Business Integration & Support, Nancy E. Powers, knew she needed to fix the problems once and for all so that UWMBMV’s staff could get back to their important efforts: “Email services are critical to our business operations and users need to be able to rely on it”.
Traditionally, the solution would mean exorbitant capital investments in new hardware, software licenses as well as ongoing IT Support costs. But, Nancy discussed with Microsoft the benefits and options that a hosted Exchange Online solution would deliver. No huge capital costs and reduced IT Support costs because Microsoft builds, maintains, updates and provides global redundancy for the hosted Exchange Server services.
Nancy then worked with Microsoft to find an experienced Certified Microsoft Partner that would “be a face to the email migration project and be there from start to finish making sure her users would be highly supported and impacted as little as possible throughout”. Microsoft recommended InLigo. InLigo’s focus on the success of their clients and an overall approach ‘to make business more successful’ proved to be a great fit.
Looking back, Nancy knows firsthand the challenges of migrating all of the email information, (messages, folders, calendar entries, tasks, etc.), from an on-premise configuration to the Cloud for hundreds of users. “Abundant planning, testing, staff communications and detailed review of elements like your Active Directory, Outlook customizations and overall network resources are critical to the success of a project like this”.
United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley’s email services are in a much better place today because of this approach …and Microsoft’s Online Services.
